For the past few years I have enjoyed reading IREM-LA president message in this column, when the new president of the chapter introduces herself or himself to our membership. I am honored that this year I have the same privilege.
My name is May Davoudian and I have enjoyed supporting and working with IREM-LA at different capacities since 2003 and have been proud of every minute of it. Through working with the chapter’s leadership as well as attending the various events such as the Forecast Breakfast, the chapter monthly mixers, the local course offerings, and industry alliances, I have had the good fortune of getting to know some great and extra ordinary people, some I am honored to call friends. I have always felt it wise in business, and in my personal life, to work openly to share ideas, to learn the best practices and to become part of a collective voice for the achievement of shared goals. I could not find any better and more nurturing foundation and platform than IREM-LA and its great membership to achieve the above.
I hope that my tenure at the helm of this organization will be marked by welcoming more able members into our activities and commitments so we can grow to be the most effective vessel in educating the leaders of our industry. Those of us, who have attended the Local or National Events such as the Leadership Conferences, Legislative conferences, and IREM-CCIM Success Series, can attest to the dramatic influence that our organization has had on the well being of our entire industry.
I know that all of us realize that the real estate market has felt the pressure of today’s recessionary demands and economic realities to the most painful levels. However, I believe that it is during these extra ordinary times that absorbing as much information as possible by attending the mixer events and educating ourselves in real-time with the best that this great institute of ours has to offer, can give us the edge to survive and thrive. The wealth of information and resources that is available to us through IREM-First and www.irem.org is second to none! Please visit us at the chapter events or on line to experience the wealth and all that we have to offer our membership, and friends.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Farzaneh Tofighi, my immediate predecessor and her hard work during one of our most difficult periods and her tremendous dedication to IREM cause. I look forward to working with our Executive Council, our executive director Hong, and our members to carry on this positive momentum, and I thank you all for your support and the opportunity to serve you.
