Kathy Watanabe, CPM® 2007 President Greater Los Angeles Chapter No. 6 and L.A. City Councilman Herb Wesson

The Honorable Herb Wesson, representing the 10 th District on the LA City Council, was IREM-LA's speaker for the April 18 th luncheon at the Omni Hotel.   Councilman Wesson currently is chairman of the HCED, Housing Community and Economic Development Committee.   The highlight of the luncheon was Councilman Wesson's speech, where he shared some of his hilarious memories from his work both at the State Capital and in the Los Angeles City Council.   The Councilman is well-known for his uncanny ability to use humor to bring people together to achieve success in both the political and business worlds.   He did not disappoint the near-capacity crowd at our luncheon that day.  

With over 100 IREM Members and non-members in attendance, the program began with a special recognition of IREM member Natalie Brecher, CPM.   The chapter chose to recognize Natalie at this luncheon because she will be moving to Portland, Oregon this summer.   IREM Past President Carol Eddy, CPM presented Natalie with a plaque and gift from the chapter in appreciation of her many years of hard work on the Scholarship Committee and commitment to IREM-L.A. and IREM National.

Frank and Rose Zelaya from Parking Network, Inc. were also presented with a special Chapter Recognition Award and gift by IREM Executive Councilmember Jerome Champion, CPM.   Frank and Rose donated several buses to the IREM-L.A. Outreach Committee so that students from SRO Housing could be transported to the Practical Family Apartment Management Course taught by the Outreach Committee at L.A. Trade Tech College.
